Most electrical problems don’t start as emergencies — they start as small warning signs nobody’s looking for. A recurring visit from a licensed electrician catches wear before it becomes a repair bill or a safety hazard.

HOME MAINTENANCE PLANS
HOW IT HELPS
A Standing Appointment With Your Home's Electrical System
A Machias Electric maintenance plan puts a licensed electrician in your home on a regular schedule — not to sell you work, but to look at the same things every time: your panel, your outlets, your connections, your smoke detectors.
Most homeowners only call an electrician once something’s already wrong. A maintenance plan flips that — you get ahead of the loose connection, the overloaded circuit, and the smoke detector nobody’s tested in three years, before any of it becomes an emergency call at 9pm.
“The homes that never call us for an emergency are almost always the ones already on a maintenance plan.”
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Six Checks, Every Single Visit
Every plan tier includes the same core inspection — the difference between tiers is how often we come and how fast you’re seen.
Annual Panel Inspection
We open the panel, check for heat damage, corrosion, and loose breakers — the things that fail quietly.
Outlet Safety Checks
Every accessible outlet gets tested for correct grounding, polarity, and GFCI function where required.
Connection Tightening Service
Loose connections are the single most common cause of arc faults. We re-torque what’s worked its way loose.
Smoke Detector Testing
We test every detector in the home and flag any that are past their service life or missing entirely.
Priority Service Scheduling
Plan members get moved to the front of the queue for repairs — including same-day for urgent issues.
Written Visit Summary
You get a plain-language report after every visit — what we checked, what we found, what to watch.

FAQ
Common Questions About Maintenance Plans
Is a maintenance plan worth it for a newer home?
Newer panels still benefit from a yearly check — connections loosen from normal thermal cycling regardless of the home’s age. Most newer homes do well on the Essential (annual) tier.
What happens if a visit uncovers a real problem?
You get a written summary and a separate quote for the repair — plan members go to the front of our scheduling queue and get a discounted labor rate on the work.
Can I switch tiers or cancel later?
Yes. Plans renew annually and you can move up or down a tier at renewal, or cancel with notice before your next scheduled visit.
Does this replace a full electrical safety inspection?
No — a safety inspection is a one-time, documented deep assessment (often for insurance or a home purchase). A maintenance plan is ongoing, lighter-touch upkeep between those.
How long does a typical maintenance visit take?
Most visits run 45 minutes to an hour for a standard home — enough time to properly check the panel, test outlets, and walk through smoke detectors without rushing. Larger homes or older wiring can add some time, and we’ll let you know upfront if a visit is expected to run longer.
